Statutory returns without the spreadsheet: CIPFA and FBCA in Epilog Cloud

Your burial and cremation returns, produced from the same records your team works from every day, and why the figures agree with the diary.

A report with a donut chart and a trend line

Every year bereavement services are asked for the same figures, and every year someone builds them in a spreadsheet. In Epilog Cloud the CIPFA burial return and the FBCA cremation return are produced from your records, so the numbers come from the same place as the bookings, invoices and grants behind them.

One set of records, one set of figures

Reports read the record’s service date, in UK time, which is why the diary and the reports agree, including services late in the evening during British Summer Time, the classic source of an off-by-one day in a hand-made export.

Fees land where they belong: memorial rights attached to a grave appear on the burial return, while memorial lease fees for benches, trees and garden positions appear as garden lease income on the cremation return.

Edit the paper, not the figures

Each return opens with a print preview where the officer can fill in the return details, reword a section title, and add a notes block for the declaration or signature. What is changed there goes on the paper you submit; the figures themselves, and the CSV export, stay exactly as the system calculated them.

Beyond the returns

The same data drives dozens of analytic reports (activity and volume, death-to-funeral timings, demographics, catchment, interments and disposals), each with filters, comparison with the previous period, charts, CSV export and print-ready layouts.

Worth knowing

  • A cancelled service with a date in the period still counts in volume figures, by design
  • A record with no service date appears in no report at all
  • Appointments are not a reportable record type

If your team would like to see the returns produced from your own kind of data, book a demo and we will show you.
